Boho Witch Recommends: Witch by Lisa Lister

Hi Boho Witch Babe,

Today I wanted to bring you a NEW segment of The Boho Witch and that is *The Boho Witch Recommends* - where I share with you all my personal recommendations for books, audios, stores, anything that I really really love and would recommend without any doubt.

It couldn't be more perfect to kick off this segment with the absolutely Divine book by Lisa Lister (I really LOVE this lady! She writes truly POWERFUL stuff with soul!) called WITCH

The reason why I loved this book so much is for many reasons but the first was that it was a CALLING home book for me. Reading this book opened my Boho Witch Soul up so much that the more that I followed Lisa's advice in this book to follow my own inner Witch, the more radical and witchy stuff started happening in my life.

I'm talking about my inner confidence level rising up, my inner power being channelled in a productive way, an inner happiness began radiating out of me, and I began wearing RED lipstick. Something I've always wanted to do, but never felt confident enough to. You know, in case it drew too much attention to me, or my teeth weren't hollywood white enough to wear it - the usual social fears of not being good enough.

And something magickal happened...I felt confident, sexy, in control, powerful, siren-like, and OMG I absolutely LOVE feeling that inner power come to the fore and even more ... MEN started really looking at me with intrigue and captivation, and my own relationship flourished and began improving, and I discovered that I actually like the attention from men - NOT in a "Oh boys... look at me" kind of way, but in a self empowered way that says "Oh yes, you recognise the feminine in me and I honour you for seeing ME".

Reading WITCH has been a soulful treat, because it has literally - hang on..

Lisa, I bow to you Lady because you have brought me back to life, You have given me my own version of Eat, Pray Love, that the divine Elizabeth Gilbert has given so many and found herself. You have held the roadmap to guide me home, and I have finally accessed this inner wisdom and inner power, my inner SHE that has been held back and hidden in the depths of my soul for far too long.

You have helped me to feel like a gorgeous, divine, feminine, sexy, powerful, queen of my life, faithful seductress to my man, Soul Sister again, and there is no price that I could put on that other than eternal gratitude.

Image result for witch by lisa listerI am grateful to you Lisa (see pic on the left), for following your Inner Witch, your Inner SHE and bravely sharing YOUR truth with the world. This is powerful stuff, and it will change your life in ways you cannot begin to imagine - but for the good - the OH MY GODDESS so good!
I urge you, fellow Boho Witches to read, devour, worship and read this book and find your inner witch. It was THE best thing I have done this year!

I am easily awarding this book 5/5 Boho Witch DreamCatchers

Monumental change can occur when you read this and allow your Inner Witch to step forward.

Why Crystals Support Your Re-Awakening

Hi Boho Witch Babe,

Today I wanted to stop by and share with you one of the many spiritual support tools that I'm using right now to help me Re-Awaken the Witch Inside.

I'm talking about CRYSTALS

I've been a believer and collector of crystals for quite a few years now, but there have been only a handful of instances where I've worked with crystals and thought "Holy Moly - That happened because of the crystals I used. But being a Boho Witch - Crystals were always going to be in my vibe right?

There was the occasion where a Black Tourmaline pendulum and Celestite cluster placed under my pillow helped me travel in my dreams back to a past life of mine in Egypt.

There was the time that an Amethyst ring manifested a man into my life - not the forever one - but a man all the same who was right for me at the time.

Also, the three crystals which I can't remember for the life of me what they were called now that I placed on my upper abdomen area prior to an MRI scan seemingly made my 'gallstones' vanish overnight! (Please see your GP/Doctor if you have ANY ailments whatsoever!!)

But right now as I face what feels like a tarot story that would consist of The Tower, Six of Swords and now the Two of Swords (Shit hitting the fan, coming out the other side, and now facing uncertainty!), I have once again been looking to crystal energies to help support this transition and change period in my life.

With the help, support and guidance of my Sister Witch Rosie who happens to own a witchy shop, I have been working more and more with crystals lately - literally using them as a crutch at one point.

First I was guided to Citrine for abundance and happiness - the joyful vibe to help me with my manifesting energy. I don't usually get on with citrine - I literally become angry and vile when I'm working with it, but I've bonded beautifully with a Citrine bracelet from Rosie's shop. Now, it's become one of my all time favourite crystals to work with!

Then I was guided to Rose Quartz for...Looooove!!! Both self love and romantic love. I feel particularly close to the Rose Quartz vibes and have been carrying a tumblestone around in my bra, sleeping with it under my pillow, and have ordered pendants from the glory that is Ebay of it too. They've not arrived yet but when they do, be sure to check back on my Instagram account for piccies!

I'm also really drawn to Clear Quartz and Amethyst right now - like amethyst is so freaking dreamy and powerful!!! I will share a pic of my Amethyst cluster on my IG account (come follow me on instagram - search for The Boho Witch) and in fact I believe my Amethyst pendant totally got me through college! So, I'm really vibing with those crystals too!

I love the fancy crystals as I call them - you know those Elestial Aqua Aura Quartz types - but Oh My Goddess do I love the beautiful and radiant power of the "Simple stones".

I'm feeling this morning the urge to work with my Goddess Moonstone crystal today - so i'll give that a try and let you know how I get on with it - Moonstone sometimes can make me feel unwell as it triggers me - probably my fear of stepping into my Witch Power, but I keep on trying!

I decided to work with crystals to support me right now because sometimes you can't automatically reach the energy or vibe you desire, so I like a little help from those who can, and those that can support me as I do this, which is why I freaking love crystals. They just know intuitively what it is that you REALLY need and they vibe with you.

Do you work with crystals Boho Witch Babes? If you do, leave a comment below - I wanna know all about yours, if you're on Instagram - follow me, and leave a comment or tag me in your crystal pics - I wanna see your babies!

Until next time, Stay True to You,

Re-Awakening The Witch Inside

Hi There Beautiful Goddess,

I started reading a book yesterday titled "Witch" by Lisa Lister, it was the first book I'd picked up on this topic in a good while. I'm talking years. I know it's been years because today marks the day that it's been 2 years since I last blogged on here. Back then I'd started to lose my way.

Yesterday as I sat reading this book, I cried tears of release, relief and re-awakening.

I heard The Call. It was strong. It was unavoidable.

I have been living a life the past 2 years that whilst has and is so bloody amazing, it hasn't been truly authentic - not 100%. I've not been living a lie, but I've been denying a part of me that I once embraced. I realised that I've given my power away in order to 'fit in' and I don't fit in. Simple.

I am a Boho Witch, I love the free-spirit vibe of being what you could call an eclectic witch if you were to put a name on it. I prefer to say I'm a spiritual person. A spiritual woman who is re-awakening her inner witch. I am a Boho Witch.

I'm not entirely sure where this Re-Awakening of the Witch Inside (an obvious play on my previous blog title for those who haven't followed me before - my blog used to be The Witch Inside), it may not go anywhere, I may blog weekly, monthly, daily - who knows? I'm not into structure and discipline. I'm a free-spirited Boho Witch Babe.

I just know that I needed to Re-Awaken the Witch Inside, and to do that I had to become The Boho Witch. What lies ahead is in the hands of the Goddess and the Universe.

Isn't that just so freaking exciting - that I have no plans for this blog at all, for this journey of mine? I'm just hitting the road and seeing where it takes me.

I have an Instagram account where you can reach me daily - The Boho Witch - so come follow me there and let's see what magic awaits us shall we?

Until next time - Stay True To You

Practical Prosperity

Practical Prosperity Magick : Creating Success & Abundance by Ellen Dugan

Published by Llewellyn

I was absolutely thrilled to be given the opportunity to read and review this book months in advance of its publication. Llewellyn sent me a copy and instantly I devoured it. I couldn't put it down and throughout the day my Mum would ask me; "What's new with the money magick book?".

It quickly became an instant prosperity bible with its wealth of information and practical tips. Mum and I began applying those that felt important and felt relevant to us. Life certainly felt more abundant!

From lucky cats known as the Maneki Neko, and the meanings of the variety of colours, to altars and prosperity magick dedicated to Lakshmi, right down the crystals, candles and manifesting know-how, this book offers you all you could ask for and more! Universal cosmic Ordering in book form - the book that keeps on giving!

What I particularly loved about this book was the lesser known Goddesses of prosperity and abundance were introduced and discussed in depth, and Ellen gives you the practical steps, confidence and knowledge to get started on creating success and abundance instantly. I loved learning about the many different facets of prosperity magick, and loved reading the follow on to her Practical Protection. (Shhhh! She has another amazing book based on psychic abilities being applied practically coming next!!!).

If you want to add something magickal to your money magick rituals, or even create an air of abundance and success in your life (c'mon, who doesn't!) then I strongly urge you to purchase your copy of this magick green money book. It's worth every penny!

What Makes A Witch Authentic?

Hello my Witchlings,

I've been gone for far too long. You could say that I've been off zooming on my broom but the truth is, that broom has been standing in the corner gathering dust. Bad Witchy. No cookie for me. I truly hope to make more of an effort with this blog by posting at least once a week - although the book reviews will be little rather than often.

I realised I've been spending far too much of my precious witchy time reviewing books, and as enjoyable as it once was, we all know that we head to amazon to check out previous buyers opinions rather than trawling blogs. So I asked my friends what they would like me to do; book review or blog authentically with creations. It was a resounding BLOG AUTHENTICALLY WITH CREATION along with the sweetest "We miss YOU" message. It touched my heart very deeply. I have listened and here I am with a rather brilliant topic and question I think. (Please do let me know your opinions).

The other night I dreamt of having animals outside of my bedroom door, I'm still deciphering what this dream actually means based on the animals that were there, but I really believe that there is a deep and meaningful message to it. I have always believed in the power of my dreamtime, and have over the quarter of a century of my existence (goddess that makes me sound old - I'm only 25), had a great many of prophetic dreams that many have scoffed at. The thing is, I never asked for anyone's permission or validation of these dreams, I simply shared them with whom I thought were like minded folk. I know my self, I know my own inner mechanical workings, I have all the validation within. Which, going back to the subject I am discussing with you here means that when it comes to me and my dreamtime - I am authentically assured.

But what makes a witch authentic?

This is a question that I began my day with this morning when my darling little Mr Magick Man woke me up at 5:15am and we snuggled and purred (You do know I'm talking about my Cat here don't you? ;) ) and I grabbed a witchy book from the side and began reading. I began to wonder exactly what does make an authentic witch, and I knew from that moment it would make an excellent discussion here amongst us.

So what does make a witch authentic in her/him self, in her/his practice, and perhaps in her/his teachings? Is it the clothes they wear, the jewellery they display, the ritualistic photos that are splashed across social media, or is it even the branch of the craft that they practice? I don't think it is at all. Before, when I was just starting out on my path I thought it was so super important for me to have the elaborate altar in my home, because that would make me a witch, and I thought that if I had witchy items displayed in my bedroom and home and even garden that would make me a witch for sure. I was young, naive, and a beginner. Who hasn't got some "Oppsy" to share about their beginnings in the craft.

Over time I have come to realise that it really doesn't matter how often you miss a lunar cycle ritual, or even that you forget to cast a spell on the full moon, and you don't always have a witchy altar on display, heck you may not even pick up a book on the craft for months. Your pentacle is in your jewellery box, the candles are low on stock, you may even have forgotten some of the theory you once learnt. But NONE of that matters. Not one tiny bit. Not to the Goddess, Not to the God, and it certainly shouldn't matter to You.

What does matter however is the intention and purity within your heart. Do you always try to be grateful? Do you smile at passers by? Do you try to help whenever you can, in whatever way you can? Do you feel fondness for Mother Nature; the trees, flowers, plants, grass? Do you feel the love for the animal kingdom and realise just how blessed you are to share your existence with all of them and the beauty of this world? Then I believe within my heart that all of that is what makes you an Authentic Witch. When you feel a calling to the craft path, and you honour that calling AS and WHEN you can with or without the extras, then you are being authentic in your craft practice, your life as a follower of the craft, and as a teacher of the craft as you go about your day to day living setting an example to those around you. All the other stuff is just glitter. And we can sparkle with or without the physical glitter.

I'd love to hear your thoughts about what you think makes an authentic witch, and how you remain authentic in your craft practice. If you have time, please stop by my lovely friend Lyn Thurman's blog where she's posted a blog of a sister theme to this one on how you can feel more witchy. It really is a most excellent read. Just click on the picture below and don't forget to mention who sent you :)

Amber ~ Pagan Blog Project 2014

The Pagan Blog Project is back! And this year I am attempting to take part as I re-dedicated myself in Samhain to take my pagan practice up a notch or two. I want to find that inner closeness I have had snatches of over the past few years. So this is my personal journey, and I will be posting about topics I haven't done before or that I haven't done in much detail. This week's post is the letter "A" and I chose to write about AMBER.

Amber is one of the most prettiest stones I have ever seen. I have to admit that it was my Mum who brought my attention to this amazing stone. Mum has always had a close affinity with Merlin, Alchemy and Nature. She still remains in awe at how this beautiful crystal is formed from tree resin which is what gives it that plastic feeling when you rub it between your thumb and forefinger.

Amber is a stone of courage, personal power and harmony - traits every practicing pagan and witch would benefit from and understand just how important they are to have. It's also a great crystal to work with as we approach Imbolc, as we each grow out of the dark and begin to emerge into the lightness of the earths cycle. Amber is also especially brilliant to work with when in our practices, wiccan or shamanic, we are aiming to connect between the realms, amber acts as the gateway.

It's long been associated with the Mother Goddess as it is believed to contain the essence of life - possibly down to the fact that some tree resin Amber's contain insects and the like.

Ways To Use Amber:

On a Healing level, Amber is good to wear upon you for self-healing, and relieving anxiety and depression. It's brilliant for increasing your self confidence and inner radiance. If you are a healer and work with many clients either physically or spiritually at a distance, wearing amber can help prevent you absorbing negative energies. It's a wonderful crystal to aid digestion, and speech problems, it strengthens the spine and encourages cell regeneration.

With Children and Animals, Amber is particularly self healing for animals who are older. I find my Cat like to lie on this crystal which is gentle and comfy and seems to ease her arthritis. For children, you may find it helpful for them if they are prone to being bullied, it creates a barrier against spite (sometimes us adults could benefit from Amber for this reason too).

Protection is what Amber is probably best known for, it gives you the courage to face your enemies be they people, situations, fears, etc. Roman Gladiators used amber for this too! If you place a piece on your altar it will offer power and protection in your rituals.

Money, Money, Money! Amber is a stone of prosperity and success. So it's great to keep some in your purse/wallet, on your desk at work, in your safe at home with your money and valuables, you can even pop a small piece in a money box. I like to keep a piece near my vision board and have even attached it to a vision board.

Spiritually Speaking - Amber is great to use for past life work. Burn an orange candle and hold this crystal whilst gazing into the flame with half closed eyes.

My experiences with Amber

My mum bought me a gorgeous Amber pendant for my birthday one year and it looks truly like a family heirloom. Many people have even asked me if it was my Grandmothers or Great-Grandmothers - yet it is totally brand new. It is just a very experienced stone - at least I like to think of it that way. I've always associated amber with High Priestesses and I tend to work with Jet too when doing magickal work. The deep richness of the colour, I cant help but be transformed to autumnal thoughts of cosiness, and warmth, which is important for self security and inner reflection.

Ring Ring! Hello? ... This is the Dark Goddess Calling...

Merry Meet Witchettes!

I have missed you so much! I have had a very serious call to answer this past week or so.

I had been called back to working with and discovering new pathways within my witchy soul as you are aware and I came across the Dark Goddess during my studies. I had heard of 'The Dark Goddess' but in all honesty had never really taken time to really understand what message she imparted. As I discovered more about the Dark Goddess showing up in your life and in my life I began to join the links together that showed just how she had been present in my life. I began to feel compelled to tell others via my blog all about my discoveries when the witchy soul inner telephone began to ring ...

RING RING!!!

Hello?

THIS IS THE DARK GODDESS CALLING....

Yep, she called and I answered the phone which means I had accepted on a soul level I believe the lesson I have now learnt.

Over this past week or so I have known the darkness of health and its made me appreciate my good health far more than I did before and I didn't think that was possible. I noted how I'd mentioned "The Call of the Dark Goddess" and was resonating with my past as I recalled times I'd been called by her, I know that I was called back to this pathway and my attention to the Dark Goddess was caught for a reason. The Dark Goddess called me again, and I have truly learnt how to listen to my body and the power healing energy has. I know there is more for me to learn, but positivity and faith in the Goddess will help me appreciate the light.

I have been in hospital (which has been a nightmare all on it's own) but I am home resting now. Mum called the ambulance Sunday and I was admitted. after first being discharged and then called back in within a matter of seconds to be told that I have gallstones and the pain I was in was caused by the gallstones passing through my bile duct and getting slightly stuck. Now blood tests show that my liver function is improving and returning to normal. I am armed ...with painkillers and can say that I have now experienced gas and air, morphine and been assured that if I can get through THAT pain, childbirth will be a breeze. Which coincidently I believe was a lesson from the Dark Goddess in matter of speaking as I am now 25 years old, in a relationship with the sheer love of my life, the man that I just can't imagine not waking up to for the rest of my life, the man I want to fight over the remote control with, and I admit it - I have had a fear of getting pregnant largely due to the childbirth aspect. Thank you Goddess for the lesson!

So I am just resting because I've had no sleep and really am exhausted. I have to go back Monday for an MRI to make sure the stones have passed., needless to say that I would appreciate healing energy to help these stones pass from my gallbladder easily, and in a pain-free way as I do NOT want surgery at all. Of course if needs must I will have to travel that route, but I REALLY want to try all other natural methods first! So along with the painkillers, I'm armed with Crystals, Herbal Drinks, Healing Music/Meditations and Angel Prayers of Healing. Oh and one more thing; I am SO glad to be home!!!

So what have I learnt?

Basically that as much as I live to GIVE to you and everyone I can help, I really do have to put myself first and rest more, help myself, listen to my own body, tap into my own wisdom. I have to stop putting my own needs last, especially when it comes to my health. I have to stop apologising and feeling guilty for taking responsibility for my life. I always manage to feel guilty when other people disagree with my choices which I make because I KNOW they are for the best for ME. I can say that I now know what it means to fully embrace my inner goddess and accept myself and my decisions, my choices. You can't make everyone agree or understand with why you do the things you do, but when you listen to your beautiful heart and do what feels right, no one, and I mean NO ONE has the right or the power to make you feel like you shouldn't do what's right for you.

So, if you take anything from this post I would like it to be; Stand up for yourself, listen to your heart and if you want to stop something, walk away, do something different, say NO, change your mind etc - you go for it! You listen to your Goddess Heart, and you feel PROUD!

☆ Today's Witchy Insight ~ October 8th 2013 ☆

Today's Witchy Insight is from the world of Tarot ~ The Magician who to me always inspires me and fills me with such hope. He also reminds me of a Universal teaching that has become so popular these days we can actually deem it fashionable ;  The Law of Attraction.

In my first days of learning tarot, The Magician was my most hoped for card as I learnt that not only was he balanced (being a Libran, this is important to me) by his awareness of all 4 elements; represented by the cup, wand, sword and pentacle (water, fire, air and earth respectively) but he had the ability to do anything he put his mind to.

I think everyone, regardless of their pathway or life circumstances can be inspired by the presence of this energy. Don't we all want to be told that WE CAN IF WE TRY? I believe that The Magician arrives in our lives when we may be feeling hopeless, despair or lacking in confidence, to remind us that if we only use the tools that we have around us (just like he does laid upon the table) then we can be living a life that others may see as only merely a dream.

I also believe this card can mean that we are about to enter a phase in our lives where we are going to be tested, perhaps to the max, but definitely we are going to have our boundaries pushed. What do we do in this situation? We use all of our elemental spirit, our experiences, our heartaches, our passions, our ideas and thoughts, and our resources to throw everything we have at this situation and by utilizing the power of our thoughts (WE CAN IF WE TRY), come out the other end happier, healthier, wiser and proud of our achievement.

I hope everyone can take the energy of The Magician with them over the next 24 hours or so and carry him with them throughout their lives,

New Moon? Same Old Story - Re Written!

Merry Meet everyone,

It was my birthday on Saturday which also happened to be the New Moon, I had a lovely day, spent the weekend with my Handsome Paramedic who spoilt me rotten. He cooked me a gorgeous meal, bought me Nexus 4 Mobile phone however the speakers didn't work so it's been sent back for them to send me one that actually works! I was spoilt by my Mum who bought me lovely gifts such as fitness equipment (I am working out more these days, and being kept on track by my health & fitness coach), books, DVD Box Sets such as Ghost Whisperer, new hair straighteners, clothes etc. I am one lucky girly!

But the New Moon really brought up some energies that I have personally been feeling for a while, especially in relation to my spiritual pathway. Many of you have been here with me on this blog since it's birth when it was "The Witch Inside", then it changed to Living a Life of Blessings, then to The Faerie Whisperer, then more recently to Finding the Goddess Within and now it has come full circle and returned to "Witch Inside". This blog has ALWAYS been a reflection of me and my spiritual pathway.

I feel that I began to lose my way a little when I felt the urge to change it the first time, and I have to say that I am particularly pleased that it has returned to all it's glorious witchiness! There is a saying that "Once a Witch, Always a Witch!", now I truly believe that with all my soul. I can try and ignore it and maybe for a year or so it will die down and bury itself deep within me, but sooner or later it will resurface and it will ultimately win!

Now what does this mean for me? Well personally it means a whole load of exciting things for me, it means that I get to post about my witchy ponderings once again that many of you first began to follow this blog for, it means that I get to really share my soul with you all once more without fear of upsetting my readers, it means that I get to incorporate my coaching that I've studied, trained, and am qualified in with all my new age, metaphysical, spiritual and witchy ways. I wonder sometimes how they will blend together, but that is the beauty of life. They all blend into making my life MINE naturally, and I am sure that the Goddess, my angels and my loved ones on the other side will undoubtedly help me blend them here on the wonderful world wide web.

I spoke to some fellow light-workers on facebook today about these changes and a lot of people have felt the energy and even thanked me for posting about my personal feelings towards this. it seems that the New Moon certainly brought about a new beginning by bringing back some old ways of our own personal pathways.

I would love to hear about how the New Moon on the 5th October 2013 affected you, please share in the comments as I am deeply intrigued to hear your story and I'd also love it if you came and "friended" me on Facebook - I really am a Friendly Witch!

Friday 13th, A Day of Happy Endings

So I began the day in a positive optimistic mood like I usually do on both Friday 13th and Tuesday 13th (the equivalent for Greeks), but it was like my morning coffee boost went sour! Seriously anything that could go wrong went wrong, like the fact that my stability ball lost it's pin to keep it inflated, I searched everywhere! Nowhere to be found!

Then there was the fact that I am just so seriously done with feeling "guilty" with not being the teaching assistant that is going to be walked all over, hence why I haven't been in the school since June! So I was going through a "Woe is me" moment (or hourS rather) and I'd quite clearly had enough of myself!

Further developments were that I was pretty pissed at the fact that I've paid to train, study and qualify as a life coach and since then, in less than a year everywhere I turn there is one of my "friends" who are launching themselves as a life coach just as if they woke up one morning and said in a Barbie tone "Oh, today I'm going to be a life coach!" and literally off they went! No credentials, no experience from their training because there is no training behind them, and in all honesty the mockery making of life coaching in my opinion is almost 30% away from being an utter mockery of a mess just like psychic readings have become "Entertainment purposes only!". These thoughts of mine then went onto start mentally listing all the people and ways people have stabbed me in the back and I thought, "you know what girl? You need a stab proof vest now!"

Next I couldn't get registered on the course of my choice at University because I'd just missed the deadline by a day or so and they were not budging an inch! So I took a leaf out of a book I've read and reviewed and I said "F*CK IT!"

Then things started to shift. Not miraculously, but slowly. Mum found my stability ball pin, she literally laid her hands on it like any "Samantha - Be*Witched" style witch would, YAY!, then I found books from my childhood whilst going through boxes with Mum YAY! You know what... here's 13 ways that Friday 13th turned out to be a day of happy endings for me!

  1. Mum found my stability ball pin
  2. Discovered childhood books like babysitters club series, animal ark, fairytales, etc
  3. My Core Secrets Workout DVDs came
  4. Reclaimed my Jet Black hair seeing as the sun no longer has it's hat on and can no longer put a red tint in it through it's rays
  5. Amazing news that is going to BOOST my career through the roof and into space beyond until I am at LEAST in my 60s (bear in mind that I'm only 24 now!)
  6. Received the opportunity to revamp and update my wardrobe to an exceptionally high standard - twit twooo!
  7. Found spell books I'd packed away for safe keeping whilst my home was being upgraded
  8. Mum and I brainstormed a "Mother + Daughter" project :)
  9. Mum informed me that she's been making me a surprise new duvet/complete bedding set including curtains
  10. Amazing support from my Fitness coach :) Thank you hun!
  11. Found a Pentacle pendant of mine amongst music CDs
  12. Found a box of ornaments forgotten about
  13. Found an old handbag with a purse that happened to have £45.68 still in it!

So you see, Friday 13th and in fact any day may start out to be a complete and utter pants day, but it CAN turn out to be a happy ending!

Happy Friday 13th xxxx

Full Moon Blog Changes

Hiya,

I am so pleased that you have taken the time to stop by, read my blog and browse my pages.

Here at *The Goddess Within* (yes another name change -  I swear it's the full moon) I hope to blog about my musings and ponderings on life, metaphysical topics and my journey to  find the Goddess Voice within me.

Like most 20 something's we have strong opinions (don't we all at any age!), questions that we are dying to ask our elders and fellow 20 something's, and generally a voice that we desire to be heard. My blog (here) is where I want to do that - respectfully of course, but I am fed up of not simply speaking my mind and tip-toeing around others so as to not hurt their feelings, yet my own feelings get hurt in the process. Where am I honouring my Goddess Voice within there? I'm not! And that is the one major thing I need to change in my life. I really need to start standing up for myself even more than I do now - because sometimes, people and their opinions can be fierce and hurt you deeply.

I chose to change my blog to reflect my current journey. I know how many of you really enjoyed reading my blog when I first began writing it back in 2009 when it was known as *THE WITCH INSIDE*, but right now, that name doesn't suit me as it's too confined for me. Right now I'm growing in life in all ways and all areas and I'm finding it more and more relevant to note that I am searching for the deep Goddess Voice within me, hence the name *THE GODDESS WITHIN*

The posts will hopefully reflect more of the topics that I originally used to blog about and won't really have any life coaching based posts as if you do want to read them, you can read them on my other blog. I'd love to get your feedback on what posts you love reading on here; as it's been a while since I wrote any of those posts. I apologise for my lack of clarity recently on this blog, and I do hope you can find it in your hearts to stick around and support me as I try to reclaim that part of me.

I was pleasantly surprised when the manuscript to this phenomenal soon-to-be-released book landed in my email account. Written by a Facebook friend of mine; Rachel Patterson who is also known by her craft name of Tansy Firedragon - a name perhaps many of you may know her as.

Hoodoo is a topic that I have never in my life read anything about, perhaps due to the media mis-conceptions of it all, which I feel is a great saddening cloak to be placed upon society. After reading this book that I feel would be a perfect introduction to hoodoo for beginners, novices, and even more experienced practitioners, I am now intrigued by the implantation of hoodoo into my own life and those of the people around me.

In the past I had had friends who were more knowledgeable about the subject of hoodoo but I chose to allow them to dip their toes or go for a swim in a topic that I personally was not ready for.

So as you can see, I had drawbacks and concerns about such a topic, and for that reason I can wholeheartedly declare to you that Hoodoo as explained in this marvellous book in the Pagan Portals series by Moon Books seems to be a very natural practice of incorporating spirituality and witchcraft into your life in a way that doesn't require you to advertise the fact that you practice it.

I leant so much from this book and I am sure that anyone can benefit from Rachel's words of wisdom even if it just to try a different blend of creating oils, incenses and such.

Here's a few things I learnt:

  • how to cleanse your house spiritually and physically correctly
  • just how magickal fluids can be ;)
  • how to uncross and protect myself
  • numerous oil blends, incense recipes and candle usage
  • how to create my own candles
  • the difference between a petition paper and name papers
  • hoodoo deities
  • and foot track magic to name only a few!
I was so impressed with this book and also excited by all the wonderful information one book contained that I simply had to catch up with the author herself and find out more about Hoodoo. Luckily for you, we created the whole interview just for you!

1.) How long have you been interested and involved in the practice of Hoodoo?

About five or six years ago I read a book on hoodoo that was recommended to me, as I read it I realised that it echoed a lot of the European folk magic that I already used within my witchcraft so it inspired me to research more and I have been working with it ever since.

2.) What is it about Hoodoo that appeals to you and you feel will appeal to readers?

The simplicity of it, when you take it down to the basics it is traditional folk magic. It uses natural ingredients and objects that are easily found and readily available and it uses a lot of symbolism – it just makes sense!

3.) What inspired you to write the book; "Pagan Portals : Hoodoo"

Having already written Pagan Portals: Kitchen Witchcraft I suggested Hoodoo as a subject that would fit in with the Pagan Portals theme of ‘introductions to pagan pathways’ thankfully Moon Books liked the idea! It is such a fascinating subject and works very well with witchcraft. I wanted to share how I use it within my own craft.

4.) What do you hope the book will achieve in it's readers eyes?

Hopefully it will take away some of the mis-representation that the media and Hollywood have given to the art of hoodoo and encourage people to investigate folk magic more and see how effective it is.

5.) Do you have any exciting plans for another book?

Happily I have another Pagan Portals book at the publishers already, this time on Moon Magic which is very exciting as it is such an important area within witchcraft and who knows after that? I have lots of ideas whizzing around!

6.) You do many things aside from writing fabulous and insightful books, can you tell us a little about them?

I am blessed to have such wonderful friends and supportive family that allow me to do what I do. I am High Priestess of the Kitchen Witch Coven, we meet regularly in a local forest to hold rituals, I am also part of the Leadership Team for the Kitchen Witch online School of Witchcraft, we also run workshops in Chi Coffee (a spiritual café locally where I am also involved in lots of other workshops and gatherings) and I am honoured to be able to give talks on witchcraft for various local groups.

7.) Lastly, how can people contact you to find out more about the work you do, work / learn with you, and really just get to know more about you?

I have a website www.rachelpatterson.co.uk

And a facebook page www.facebook.com/rachelpattersonbooks

And the school website & free forum is www.kitchenwitchhearth.com

School facebook page is www.facebook.com/kitchenwitchuk

I am always happy to help and answer any questions that I can for anybody on this path either via the websites or facebook pages.

Thank you so much Rachel for taking the time for the interview, I sincerely wish you many blessings for the publication of this book, and I am already eagerly awaiting your next upcoming book!

If this book sounds like something that would definitely add sparkle to your life, use the links at the start of the review to pre-order /purchase your copy, and don't forget to let us know what you think of it, Rachel and I would love to hear your reviews.

Guest Blogger : Herbs to Awaken Your Psychic Potential by Alex Clarke

Today we have an AMAZING pampering Guest Blogger; Alex Clarke! I adore her and her work (and will even be featured in her book "Awaken your Inner Faerie in 30 Days". Just in time for Mother's Day here in the UK, Alex brings us; "Enhance your psychic ability with herbs!"

If sugar and spice and everything nice is what little girls are made of, what are magickal diva’s made of – the answer? Well, keep reading and you are sure to find out!
Everything you put in, on, or around your body affects your well-being. From the colours we wear to the foods we munch and crunch, all will change how we feel. Wonderfully this emotional alchemy process is a personal one – what works for one may not work for another. The transformation of our inner and outer perceptions remains as unique as we are – no one glittery shoe fits all. In essence, what you need will find its way of appealing to you – so take what you need from this article and discard what doesn’t work. Yes yes, there is ancient customs associated with the use of magickal remedies and herbal enhancers but YOU still remain the most important factor in your own psychic development. Trust yourself. You know what’s best.
When looking at herbs we need to be aware that not all elementals are suitable for everyone – especially when we are looking at psychic development. Psychic development is specifically the raising of ones vibration to absorb more information from various debateable sources (debateable as there is no consensus on where we get ‘psychic’ information from). Personally, I believe there is nothing unusual about psychic ability. It is the normal human state. Anything less than fully-functioning perception is a mere disruption of the human capacity to be whole. Your psychic-ness is your humanity. Fundamentally, we are looking to become more human, more of our real nature and this article will look at the elemental teas, tinctures and incenses that can help you re-connect or enhance this wholeness. We are one and claiming your ability to perceive the full richness of interconnected reality, in all its glorious wholeness, is your birth-right!

Herbal and Natural Helpers!

Acacia – sacred to the Egyptians Acacia is great for any type of shamanic otherworldly work. Use as an incense to aid communication with the ancestors or loved ones on the other side –simply burn with the intention to connect.
Laurel – is used by shamans and witches to communicate with spirits who are not our kin, but who want to work with us in this realm of existence. It’s also wonderful when used to connect to our spirit guides, guardians or animal allies! Burn with the spoken intention to connect to your guides or helpers.
Camphor – woo hoo camphor has a double whammy effect. It can give you an influx of prophetic dreams (get those lotto tickets bought!) but also contains a powerful purifying component that’s second to none. Annoying spirits, attachments, or general bumps in the night (of the unpleasant variety) will find new haunts to, well, haunt.
Copal – is my utter favourite for spirit-work. Used by the indigenous tribes of Central America for underworld trance-work. Want visions? Burn copal incense resin to reach the right state. Simply state your intentions and don’t forget to jot down any visions, messages, or impressions that occur.
Dandelion – yes, those brilliant bright sunny weeds you see cracking concrete with their awesome power possess the ability to help your natural pre-cognitive abilities. Great if you are a tarot reader, palmist, or medium, simply have a cup of dandelion tea on hand throughout your readings!

Frankincense – sacred to many in the Middle East and for good reason, not only will it magnify your intention while meditating (or manifesting) but it also helps induce pre-cognitive dreams and visions. Simply burn some before bedtime!
Mugwort – A bowl of mugwort tea can be used to cleanse your scrying crystals such as mirrors, crystals, pendulums and jewellery. Mugwort has been used for centuries to induce visions – simply drink as a tea, elixir or burn as incense for crystal clear premonitions.
Wormwood – sacred to many spirits and faeries, wormwood should be carried not ingested. It can help you connect with many unseen helpers, enhance dreams and your ability to predict events. It has also been long used in protection spells to ward off envy and gossip.
Peppermint – for anyone who is having difficulty connecting with their natural psychic ability this is the starter elemental helper. Peppermint can clear away any fears you have about seeing, feeling, or perceiving your messages, environment or situation clearly. Burn 2 drops of oil at bath time or drink one cup of tea daily in the morning as it will stimulate your third eye and solar plexus during the day. If taken at night it may keep you awake – and you kinda need to be asleep for psychic dreams!
Sage – is another favourite of mine and many native cultures. This helper not only awakens your psychic abilities but will enable you to interpret the symbols from a place of love, wisdom and peace. You can burn dried sage leaves before or during meditation and even add to your bath in the evening to aid mystic dreams.
Thyme – fancy reading the Akashic Records? Of course you do! And thyme is your cosmic library card as it’s believed to enable you to integrate all that was, into all that is, and then into all that will be. (It may even help you interpret that sentence).
Rose – will enhance your psychic ability with great compassion, love and nurturing wisdom. It is one of the most gentle, but potent, spiritual helpers. Especially healing for women (and some men) who were persecuted in past lives for witchcraft. It will dissolve any fear such souls have around using and revealing their innate psychic gifts. Try using rose water to cleanse your third eye before sleep and gradually over time you will start to open up to the wonder of all that is unseen.
St. John's Wort – popular today for treating depression but originally used to resolve pain and suffering from past lives. Its major use shamanically is for enabling astral travel as it serves as elemental protector and guide. Simply use as a tea before meditating or travelling the cosmos!

Magickal bath time!!

Baths! They are genuinely fantastic and brilliant –soothing or invigorating depending on your mood. And, if you are anything like me, they are your creative hub of magical luxury. My best ideas surface when I’m submerged. Indulgence is made for bath time – candles, bubbles, scented oils and now psychic development! So before you settle to meditate, sleep, or preform any form of divination try running yourself a bath with the following helpers infused in the water.

• One/two drops of lavender oil. Lavender is my favourite all time herb. Lavender is the ‘be all’ plant – she is protector, manifester and healer. Lavender is mother goddess in plant form. Your intention is her intention.
• One handful of rose petals or a splash of rose water. As we have seen roses are love in a bud. Add some for the gentle blossoming of your abilities and the soothing acceptance of all you can be.
• One tablespoon of salt. Salt protects and cleanses all negativity. It heals the aura and will make it easier to change your vibration. After all – if you travel light you can hold more light!
• One sage leaf. To help you uncover and understand the symbolic meanings of whatever visions you experience during your development phase.

Before you climb into your bath, hold the intention of gaining great foresight. Simply state clearly that you are willing to – ‘hear, see, speak and be the truth behind the illusion’ now you are ready to delve into the waters of your subconscious and the collective consciousness. Enjoy your journeying and let us know what you discover – especially if it’s lotto numbers!
